Hello my name is Tina and this is my Journey to lose weight, I started on the 15th of March 2012, I was on vacation/ family emergency in Florida, I went down to Florida with my youngest daughter to see my mother and sister and to get a little sun and vacation.
It started at my good friends house, she was on a weight loss journey herself, she had lost 80pounds and said it has made a lot of difference in her life.
The first thing I had to do was get on a scale and see what the damage was, I was not to surprised when the scale said 327 pounds, but what really upset me was when my daughter stepped on the scale and it said 197 pounds, at that time I knew we needed to make some serious changes in our lives, mainly to change how we ate.
It was on that day that I made the decision to change our eating habits and to keep track of everything we ate and to buy healthier food and to start cooking healthier.
My friend said she would help me get started and show me a few things that had helped her, the journey was going to be a long one, and it was going to have to be a permanent one.
That was not the only reason that I started this journey, even though it was a very good one, the other reason was the visit we had with my mother and sister, all my life my mother has been over weight, but now it has gotten so bad that she can't even stand up, she had to have an ekg done and could not even fit on the hospital table for the exam, she is constant pain and they can't give her anything for it.
While we were sitting outside on the porch, she was in her electronic wheel chair, she kept telling me about all the aches and pains that every day brings her, as I was leaving I looked at her sitting there in her chair and her legs where a purplish black color and I knew that was just not right.
That day/night I knew that I had to change my eating habits for me and my daughter, for the sake of being around to see all four of my daughters and my son graduate High School, College, and even get married.
So my journey begins,
The first thing I have to give up is my Coca-Cola, which may be the hardest thing to give up, but I will do it, the second hardest thing I am going to have to do is drink more water, which is not something I am used to drinking, but as long as there is plenty of ice in it I will survive it.
That is all for today, but stay tuned I will be back tomorrow to tell you what happened during our week in Florida and how it is going since we got home to Kentucky.
